In fact, those people in the before and after shots really did lose weight by following that exercise program or eating that balanced meal plan being sold over home TV shopping networks.
The only difference with us is that they stuck to the plan until it had a dramatic effect on them. The trouble with us is that we live in a world where everything is given to us in an instant – instant cake mix, instant coffee, instant TV dinners.
Which is why we end up giving up because we do not see the results immediately. We end up giving up on diets because we only see the program as a program that will only span for a month. We end up treating diets as what they are. Just a diet to lose weight.
So for the question, do I need to diet to lose weight? The answer is yes, definitely. But if you want to lose weight and keep it that way, you do not only need a diet plan, you need an eating lifestyle overhaul.
Start with the diet program of your choice to jump start your weight loss goal. And then once you reach that weight you were gunning for, take the basic principles that you learned from that diet. Make sure that all your meals are healthier now so that you end up maintaining that weight.
