Eat to Lose Weight – Breaking the Starvation Myth

The usual scenario when someone wants to lose weight is that he or she will do one, some or all of the following:
Skip one or two meals in a day and just eat one full meal to compensate for the missed ones.
Let go of ALL types of fat.
Snacks are definite no-no’s.
Stay away on all types of carbohydrates.
Substitute everything with a piece of celery or a lettuce leaf.
This was how our parents used to do it, this was how their elders used to do it and for some reason, this is how we do it now. But the truth is, if you want to shed off some unnecessary pounds, you have to eat to lose weight.
I am not joking when I say that you have to eat to lose weight. Because the reality is, when you starve yourself, your body goes back into its caveman days mode.
When you do not eat, your body thinks, “Oh no, I am starving, better slow down my metabolism so I end up not dying due to this starvation attack.”
So in effect, you end up burning lesser calories than you need in order to lose weight. So if you are serious in seeing that weighing scale give you are more positive reading, do the following:
Eat more frequently, but in smaller proportions.
Do not skip foods rich in Omega 3 fatty acids.
Effective carbohydrates in the form of fiber are good for your digestion so eat bran cereals regularly.
