Do I Really Need to Exercise to Lose Weight?

Some weight loss programs entice you to buy their plans by saying that if you purchase this “once in a lifetime” offer, you will no longer need to exercise to lose weight.

This may be a trick that can snag some consumers into buying a shady diet program that consists of DVD’s on preparing tasteless meals, but the truth is, if you are serious in losing weight and leading a healthy lifestyle, you need to know that it is imperative to exercise to lose weight.

The truth is very simple for weight loss. Your body has to consume X amount of calories for it to retain its usual weight. So, if you end up burning X amount calories and you eat the same number of calories, then you will not gain weight. But if you eat X calories and you burn X plus Y calories, there lies the magic of you losing weight.

The only way you can burn more calories than you eat, instead of starving yourself to death, is by exercising. This may not be a very exciting and “innovative” news but it is true.

The trick in exercising is that you have to choose an exercise that you actually like to do. Do not choose mountain or rock climbing just because your friend lost 10 pounds by doing this.

She may have lost those pounds because she actually enjoys her climbs so much that she frequently does this activity. Choose an exercise that you love, like if you like sight seeing, try jogging or biking around the park. This will ensure that you will do your exercise without having to feel like you are tortured every step of the way.
